Activities:
Hiking the Robberg Robberg Nature Reserve one of the most beautiful hiking trails I know. Take the long way: 10km and a backpack a few snacks with enough to drink. You can enjoy a braii at the end of the trail!
Plett Game Reserve Horse Safari a different type of game drive. On horseback, you come much more in contact with the nature and animals Horses very tame and calm!!
Monkey Land the worlds first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary Fascinating!
Birds of Eden a two nectar free flight sanctuary with over 3,500 birds
Kayaking at Natures Valley or Keurboomsriver
Beaches : check out the local beaches
Walks on the beach:
on the left of Enrique’s to the Arch Rock
A beautiful walk is to Arch Rock. From Enriquo’s head left. Its just shortly after the stream that comes down from the hills. About 20 minutes stroll. Watch the tides. Not possible in high tide If you through a rock through the arch, your wish will come true!
to the right from our house towards Plett: If you go right on our beach, you can have a beautiful long walk down to the mouth of the Keurboomsrivier (approx 8km) Shortly before the mouth there is one of the biggest bird sanctuaries in South Africa. If you are lucky, you can also find Panse Shells, the only one of their kind in the world!! Best hope is towards low tide in shallow water or sand banks. Good Luck!! Walk takes a good 4 hours. Dolphins can often be seen around sunset.
Markets:
Wednesdays at Old Nick’s small but fun to stop by to see. nice little shops
Saturdays Harkerville 10km outside of Plett Sedgefield much bigger, around 1 hour from Baviaanshoek
both markets have good breakfasts!!!!
Groceries and sandwich things
Thyme and Again a great little store right across from us on the N2 Great selection for a little store. meat pies, sweet pies, breads, cereals, cheese, wine ect etc. We stop in often.
Bread and Brew at the gas station by Robertson Road in the Crags. Great sandwiches and such
Natures Way Farm Stall on the way to Natures Valley. cheese specialties. Good for picnic things for the beach
When making a Braii, we get our meats and fish from The Deli Factory and Robberg Fine Foods both next to each other in the Plett Industrial District.
